| The Greater Mission Statement |
 |
|
We are the Cultural Ministers of the Greek Orthodox Youth Folk Dance and Music Festival of the Metropolis of San Francisco.
We are united through the Orthodox faith in our commitment to teaching and perpetuating our Hellenic cultural heritage through dance, songs, and music. We shall carry out this commitment by upholding the teachings and principles of our Orthodox faith; serving as role models for our students; respecting clergy, fellow directors, students, parents, judges, Board of Trustees members, Management Team members, and site staff; and to work in partnership with fellow directors to expand our knowledge and to improve our teaching skills for the love of the FDF Ministry.
Though FDF contains an element of competition, this aspect shall never be the highlight or the sole purpose of our teaching. The ultimate achievement to be gained is the element of sharing, teaching, knowledge, and love.
We shall never promote the idea or thought that one’s good fortune is another’s misfortune, but strive to see that all of us grow in spirit, strength and fellowship. We shall always seek to bring out the best in our teaching in terms of ethics, morality, and character, holding high the banner of Christianity. |
